SERVICE TIPS FOR THE HOLIDAY SEASON

Sunday, November 20, 2016

The holiday season is a great time to prioritise equipment maintenance, according to JCB Construction Equipment Australia’s National After Sales Manager, Gary Sky.

Gary says that the summer slowdown presents the perfect opportunity to get machinery checked and serviced, in order to make sure it’s ready to go back to work when business picks back up in the New Year.

“Keeping on top of service schedules and machinery maintenance are important, and can help stop small nuisances and issues turning into big problems down the track,” Gary says. “But even though everyone realises how important these tasks are, it can be hard to find the time for them.

“It’s a great idea to see if you can schedule machinery for a simple service over the break, so you’re aware of any bumps or bruises that you can fix before you start work again for the year. This is especially important for older pieces of machinery, which need more frequent checks. The sooner there is a problem identified, generally the cheaper it will be to fix.”

Gary says it’s also worth checking eligibility for a warranty check, which may cover any repairs that are needed.

“A warranty check allows you to get any issues repaired that may have arisen during your warranty period. Some machinery owners don’t realise they may be eligible for this check, so always ask your machinery service department what may be available and what can be fixed before it expires,” Gary says.

He says the holiday period can also be a good time to book machines in for a market appraisal or trade valuation.

“This can then set you up for the year ahead, especially if you are considering upgrading or leasing out your assets,” Gary says.

“Our service technicians are put through rigorous training sessions, including online and factory training, so you can be confident they will do a thorough job.”
